Hurricanes Top Seneca Valley Next Game Sign
the Red Hurricane Report Guestbook Tonight the Hurricanes got a big road win in a physical contest at Seneca Valley. The site of last years altercation that ended with at one game suspension for David Young figured to be tough game as the Raiders with four returning starters are trying to make the leap into the upper echelon of Section 3. Seneca Valley led by as much as seven in the first period and again in the second before the Canes finally caught and passed them in the third. New Castle had the game well in hand with 17 point lead late in the fourth before some late threes made the score more respectable. Final score Hurricanes 67, Raiders 59. Seneca Valley jumped on top early taking a 6-0 lead. The Raiders led 9-2 before the Canes hit two straight to close the lead. A three by Cook at 1:20 then tied the game at 12. Seneca Valley then moved ahead to close the period up 18-14. A three to open the second started the Raiders. Halfway through the period Seneca Valley had extended the lead back to seven before the Canes started to chip away. Finally seven unanswered points to end the quarter got New Castle even at 28 at the half. Seneca Valley took the lead back to start the third quarter but the Canes tied the game at 34 then took the lead for good at the 3:25 mark. By the time the third period was done the Hurricanes had out scored the Raiders 17 - 12 and led by five, 45 - 40. The Raiders hit a three to get within two to start the fourth but never got as close again as the Canes poured it on. A 10 - 0 run in the middle of the period sealed the Raiders fate and the Canes went home with a 67 - 59 road victory.
